Daoshing Ni, known as Dr. Dao
Daoshing Ni, like his brother Maoshing Ni, has received intensive training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Taoist tradition since his early childhood, first from his father, Hua-ching Ni, and later from other achieved teachers in the United States and China. He now brings this wealth of knowledge into his medical practice, his teaching and his everyday life.
At The Tao of Wellness, Dr. Dao is renowned for his expertise in reproductive and gynecological medicine and he recently completed his first book, The Tao of Fertility. Rooted in Taoist practice, this book offers guidance for those who wish to achieve optimal fertility. Patients from all over the world seek his help in this field and with other aspects of wellness. His compassion, dedication, and extensive knowledge shine through in his relationships with his patients and all others who encounter him.
Dr. Dao and his brother founded Yo San University. He served as school president for many years and continues to teach there, dedicating much time and effort to the training of new TCM practitioners. Dr. Dao has an elegant demeanor and teaches by example using words that carry an illuminating message. He is like a patient parent and lets students take their time, make mistakes, and learn how to grow on their own, yet is always there when needed. Dr. Dao, together with his brother, Dr. Mao, and the other teachers at Yo San, have created a caring, deeply rooted, and balanced energy to help students become the 39th generation of healers in the Ni family legacy. Yo San has become one of the top TCM schools in the nation.
As well as being fully committed to his patients, students, and fellow faculty members, Dr. Dao is also dedicated to the mentors, coaches and members of the Integral Way. He shares his knowledge and compassion, which helps to inspire and empower them to improve our world. He teaches that a healthy path in life requires the integration of our daily activities, our relationships, and our environment. He believes that to establish world peace we must first build a peaceful family, and that to achieve a peaceful family, we must first cultivate ourselves. Therefore, the real work for a peaceful world lies inside each of us.
He shares the following insight from the Tao Teh Ching:
If you hope to expand,
You should first contract.
If you hope to become strong,
You should first weaken yourself.
If your ambition is to be exalted,
Humiliation will follow.
If you hold fast to something,
It will surely be taken away.
This is the operation of the subtle law of the universe.
The law of the universe is subtle,
But it can be known.
The soft and meek can overcome the hard and strong.
The strength of a country must not be displayed.
Just as fish cannot leave the deep,
You must never stray from your own true nature.
* Dr. Dao was recently featured on the NBC’s Today Show, in Conceive Magazine and Conceive On-Air and has appeared on other TV shows such as Women to Women, the Donny & Marie show, Hour Magazine, and the Home Show.
Hua-Ching Ni
Hua-Ching Ni, who was known as Master Ni in the West when he was teaching and lecturing to the public, is now known to many that love and respect him as OmNi.
OmNi is a teacher of the natural spiritual truth. He is an heir to the ancient wisdom and teaching of an unbroken succession of 74 generations in the Taoist tradition that dates back to the Han Dynasty (216 B.C.). He also belongs to the 38th generation of healers in the Ni family legacy. As a young child he was educated by his family and spent his youth learning from highly achieved masters in the mountains of China. Later, he continued to study many traditions and spiritual arts from a range of teachers. After several decades of persistent searching through intensive training, study, and re-examination, he brought the ancient wisdom alive using the language of today and a modern understanding.
OmNi’s early life in China was full of hardships and challenges as well as much wonder. In 1949 he left his entire family and went alone to Taiwan to carry on his family legacy. There he lived for 28 years and became a renowned healer, teacher, and writer. He has said that the hardships in life have made him stronger, deeper, and perhaps a bit wiser.
OmNi’s spiritual teaching began to attract international attention from those eager to learn the Integral Way of Life that he espoused. In 1976 he was invited by a group of American students to live in Los Angeles. Accepting their invitation, he continued to practice as a traditional Chinese doctor and began transforming the lives of even more people with his teaching. In 1989 he and his two sons, Daoshing Ni and Maoshing Ni, founded a new school of Chinese medicine, Yo San University, to transmit their traditional knowledge of healing to future generations. During his spare time he continued to devote himself to writing and has lectured worldwide on the topics of spiritual truth and ancient wisdom, as well as teaching Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Taoist Meditation and Internal Alchemy. His goal is to help people to rebuild their natural, healthy life energy and awaken and cultivate their own spiritual potential.
Since retiring from medical practice and general teaching, he has enjoyed being a world traveler who never tires of visiting new places, learning new languages, and meeting new people. Yet his passion to bring about a better world keeps him writing. He has now written over 70 books in English delineating his approach to the Tao as well as ancient philosophy, meditation, chi movement, and spiritual cultivation. He writes about his own experiences and attainment and these books are full of treasures for those searching for the answers in life. The essence of the natural spiritual truth, many ancient achievements, and the integral way of conducting a healthy life are all transmitted through these books.
His teaching of the Integral Way, which transcends conventional Taoism and folk traditions, is based on the Tao and three ancient scriptures - Lao Tzu’s Tao Teh Ching, the teachings of Chuang Tzu, and the I Ching or Book of Changes and the Unchanging Truth.
His approach inspires spiritual self-sufficiency, which marks the key difference between a true spiritual teacher and those who foster spiritual and emotional dependency. His teaching has uplifted and expanded the consciousness of many people in ways beyond measure.
